Overview and current situation of rubber additives industry

Rubber additives are the general name of a series of fine chemical products added in the process of processing raw rubber into rubber products, which are used to endow rubber products with service performance, guarantee the service life of rubber products, and improve the processing performance of rubber compounds. Rubber additives can be scientifically matched with raw rubber to endow rubber products with high strength, high elasticity, aging resistance, wear resistance, high temperature resistance, low temperature resistance, noise reduction and other properties, mainly including more than 200 varieties in five categories, including vulcanization additives, protective additives, processing additives, adhesive additives and special functional additives. Rubber additives play a very important role in optimizing the structure of rubber products and improving rubber processing technology, and are essential raw materials for the rubber industry.

According to the data of China Rubber Industry Association, nearly 90% of the rubber additives in the rubber additives industry are related to automobiles, and about 70% of the rubber additives output is directly used in tire production. The tire industry and automobile industry have a vital impact on the development of the rubber additives industry. In addition, rubber additives are also widely used in rubber products such as adhesive tapes, rubber hoses, rubber shoes, seals, shock absorbers, rubber plates, etc.

With the development of the international rubber industry, especially the global tire industry, the world rubber additive industry has ushered in new opportunities. In recent years, the global rubber industry has entered a period of stable development, and the supporting rubber additive industry has also entered a period of stable development. In order to realize the optimal allocation of resources, foreign rubber additive manufacturers have become more concentrated through mergers and acquisitions in the past ten years, forming four major rubber additive manufacturers, namely, Lexus, Copua, Longsheng Chemical and Czech EGF Group.

China's rubber additive industry was founded in 1952 and can be roughly divided into four stages, namely, the formation period in the 1950s and 1970s, the growth period in the 1970s and 1980s, the localization period of radial tire raw materials in the 1980s and 1990s, and the sustained and stable development period in the 21st century. After more than 70 years of production and development, there are more and more enterprises producing rubber additives in China, with continuous high output, major breakthroughs in cleaner production technology, continuous improvement and innovation in synthetic technology, continuous enrichment and renewal of varieties, continuous deepening of product structure adjustment, more and more active import and export trade, and significant improvement in industry management, production, operation and international competitiveness.
